Sarah Palin talks about new baby and admits to feeling “despair” when she first found out Bristol was pregnant.
Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol gives birth to a baby boy named Tripp.
Bristol Palin welcomed a baby boy on Saturday in Palmer, Alaska.
The 18-year-old daughter of former Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin gave birth to Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston at 5:30 a.m., according to People.com.
Baby Tripp’s dad is Bristol’s fiance Levi Johnston, a former high school hockey player who’s studying to be an electrian.
“We think it’s wonderful,” says Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother Sally Heath, who confirmed the news to People.
“The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited.”
Levi Johnston told the AP in October that he and Bristol plan to get married in 2009.

Sarah Palin’s snazzy campaign looks don’t come cheap.
The Republican National Committee has shelled out more than $150,000 on clothes and accessories for the vice presidential candidate, according to documents uncovered by Politico.com.
Detailed financial statements show that the RNC has laid out big bucks for Palin’s power suits and other makeover must-haves, including a $75,062.63 shopping spree at a Minneapolis Neiman Marcus and shopping trips to Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York that totaled $49,425.74.
Hair and makeup for the Alaskan governor and former beauty queen added another $4,716.49 to the RNC’s tab in September, after Palin joined John McCain’s ticket.
The financial documents also suggest that Palin’s husband – Alaskan “First Dude” Todd Palin – might have been on the receiving end of $5,000 worth of fancy men’s clothes, courtesy of the RNC.
Tina Fey might do a dead-on Sarah Palin impersonation, but the 30 Rock star insists she’s not as pretty as the Alaskan governor and former beauty queen.
“I’ll tell you, that lady is five times better-looking than I am,” Fey says in the latest issue of TV Guide. “She’s 44? She’s got none of that droopy s–t. She’s keeping it tight!”
Alec Baldwin, Fey’s 30 Rock costar, agrees that Palin is one hot mama.
“You are way hotter in person. Seriously, I can’t believe they let her [Fey] play you,” Baldwin joked when Palin herself appeared on Saturday Night Live.
One way Fey channels her inner Palin? “We glue my ears down. That’s one of the tricks.”
Tina Fey is hotter than ever, thanks in part to her killer impersonation of Sarah Palin.
But the Saturday Night Live alum and 30 Rock star says she won’t be playing Palin forever.
“Election time is always good for [SNL] and this is a bonkers election,” Fey tells TV Guide.
“And that lady is a media star. She is a fascinating person, she’s very likable. She’s fun to play, and the two bits with Amy [Poehler], that was super fun.”
As for post-election performances, Fey says: “We’re gonna take it week by week. If she wins, I’m done. I can’t do that for four years. And by ‘I’m done,’ I mean I’m leaving Earth.”
